Lets talk drainage..

Grass loves water, but not to be drowned by it or constantly soggy. If after a rainstorm, it leaves you with swamp pits in your side or back yard, you have poor drainage! Depending on the level of severity, either surface or French drains would be the solution! 

Drainage allow water to pass through easily, preventing it from pooling; the drain is angled in such a way as to draw water away from the trouble spots. Water passes through to either the sidewalk or the curb.

With surface drains, attaching the gutter downspouts makes the complete drainage system keep your foundation preserved from any water damaging effects.
